Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
Overview
Pawllen ("we", "our", or "us") is a personalized allergy tracking and forecasting app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have over your data.
By using Pawllen, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (if you sign up with email/password)
- Apple ID (if you use Sign in with Apple — your name and email are provided by Apple and may be hidden at your discretion)
1.2 Allergy & Health Information
This is the core data that powers your personalized experience:
- Allergen triggers — which allergens (tree pollen, grass, weeds, mold, dust, pet dander, specific plants) you have marked as known or suspected triggers
- Symptom logs — daily entries including overall severity, individual symptoms (sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes, etc.), per-symptom severity, environment (indoor/outdoor/mixed), medications taken, and optional notes
- Medications — medications you add to your profile (e.g. Zyrtec, Flonase, Claritin)
- Seasonal patterns — your self-reported allergy severity by season (spring, summer, fall, winter)
1.3 Basic Demographics
Collected during onboarding to improve your experience:
- Age range
- Gender
- Pets in your household
1.4 Location Information
- Precise location (GPS) — used to fetch pollen and weather data for your current location. Only city and state are used for AI features; precise coordinates are not stored permanently
- Saved locations — named locations (e.g. home, work) that you manually save, stored with coordinates and city/state
- Location visits — your approximate location today, used to calculate your daily allergy score
1.5 Usage Data
- Chat message counts — for rate limiting purposes only. Message content is not stored on our servers
- App interaction data — feature usage patterns to help us improve the app (e.g. which features are used)
1.6 Device Information
Standard device identifiers used by Firebase for authentication and crash reporting.
1.7 Gameplay Data (Sneeze Game)
When you play the Sneeze Game, we collect and store:
- Sneeze score, sneeze count, and session results for each daily game
- Current streak day and level derived from your play history
- Selected avatar and theme (your chosen cosmetic appearance)
- Username (auto-generated or chosen by you)
1.8 Cosmetics & Virtual Currency
- Coin balance — in-app currency earned or added through gameplay
- Unlocked avatars and themes — the catalog of cosmetics tied to your account
- Purchase records for virtual items (coins spent, items unlocked)
Virtual items and coins have no cash value and cannot be transferred off your account.

3. AI Features
3.1 Daily Insights
Pawllen generates a daily personalized allergy insight using Google Gemini (via Firebase AI). Your location, allergen profile, pollen levels, personal score, and weather are sent to generate 1–2 sentences of actionable advice. These insights are cached locally on your device for the day.
3.2 AI Chat (Premium)
The AI Chat feature sends the following to Amazon Bedrock (hosted on AWS) for processing:
- Your allergen profile
- Your symptom logs from the past 14 days (date, severity, symptoms, medications)
- Your current allergy risk score and pollen forecast
- Your general location (city and state only — not precise GPS)
- Your messages within the current chat session
Important:
Amazon Bedrock does not use your data to train AI models. Your prompts and responses are not stored by Amazon Bedrock and are not accessible to Anthropic or any third party. This is enforced by AWS architecture. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
What is NOT sent for AI processing:
- Your email address or account credentials
- Precise GPS coordinates
- Payment or subscription details
Conversation history is stored locally on your device for 14 days, then automatically deleted. Conversation data is not permanently stored on any server.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to operate Pawllen:
| Provider | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Authentication, database (Firestore), cloud functions | Account info, allergy & health data, location |
| Google Pollen & Weather API | Pollen and weather forecasts | Location coordinates (processed server-side, not linked to your account) |
| Google Gemini (Firebase AI) | Daily AI insights | Allergen profile, score, location, weather |
| Amazon Bedrock (AWS) | AI Chat responses | Allergen profile, recent symptom logs, score, city/state, chat messages |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Account identifiers, purchase records |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple | Only what Apple provides at sign-in |
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Pawllen, our users, or the public.
4.3 Business Transfer
If Pawllen is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the new entity, subject to the same privacy protections.
4.4 Public Leaderboard
The daily Sneeze leaderboard is public to all Pawllen users. When you play, the following information about you is visible to every other user:
- Your username
- Your daily score and sneeze count
- Your streak day and level
- Your selected avatar and theme
No health data, symptom logs, allergen profile, email, location, or account identifier is ever shown on the leaderboard. If you do not want your gameplay stats visible to other users, do not play the Sneeze Game.
You can change your username at any time from Settings → Profile.
5. Data Storage & Retention
- On-device (SwiftData): Your allergy data, symptom logs, and forecasts are stored locally on your device for fast access.
- Cloud (Firestore): Your data is synced to Firebase Firestore to enable cross-device access and account recovery. It is stored under your unique user ID and is protected by security rules that prevent any other user or service from accessing it.
- Account deletion: When you delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), all your data is permanently deleted from both local storage and our cloud database. This action cannot be undone.
- Chat history: Stored locally for 14 days, then automatically deleted. Not stored server-side.
- Inactive accounts: We may delete accounts and associated data that have been inactive for an extended period, with advance notice where possible.
- Leaderboard entries: Daily leaderboard entries are stored in Firestore and roll over each day. Historical entries may be retained for streak calculation and anti-abuse purposes.
- Cosmetics & coins: Your cosmetics inventory and coin balance persist on your account until you delete it.
- Account deletion (Sneeze Game): Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) also removes your leaderboard entries, gameplay history, cosmetics inventory, and coin balance.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS
- Firestore security rules ensure users can only access their own data
- Premium subscription status cannot be modified directly by the client app
- All API endpoints require a valid authentication token
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you become aware of a security issue, please contact us at the address below.
7. Your Rights & Choices
7.1 Access & Export
You may request a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting us.
7.2 Correction
You can update your allergen profile, medications, saved locations, and other settings directly within the app.
7.3 Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently and irreversibly removes all your data from our systems.
7.4 Notifications
You can enable or disable push notifications in the app (Settings → Notifications) or through your device's system settings.
7.5 Location
You can revoke location access at any time in your device's system settings. Without location, your allergy score will be based on your saved primary location if one is set.
8. Children's Privacy
Pawllen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Tracking
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Pawllen does not use advertising networks, cross-app tracking identifiers, or any third-party analytics that track your activity outside of Pawllen.
10. Apple Health (HealthKit)
Pawllen does not integrate with Apple Health (HealthKit). No data is read from or written to HealthKit.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app or by email. Continued use of Pawllen after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
